Writers and artists from throughout Mercer County are featured in this year’s Kelsey Review.
Now in its 32nd year, the Review features 22 works of fiction, poetry, illustration and photography by 17 contributors who live, work or study in Mercer County. It is available in the county’s libraries and online.
The cover art is by Tim Fitzpatrick, who drew inspiration from the Assunpink Wildlife Preserve and the garden at his Hamilton home.
According to Kelsey Review editor Edward Carmien, a Mercer County Community College English professor, this year the editorial team received nearly twice as many submissions, but selected fewer pieces.
Writing contributors include Wanda S. Praisner of Bedminster, Lois Marie Harrod of Hopewell, George Point of Lawrenceville, Gwen Jones, Lavinia Kumar of Plainsboro, Vida Chu, Robert Hebditch, James Hockenberry and D.E. Steward of Princeton, Ken Jaworowski of Princeton Junction, Carolina Morales of Trenton, Gail Gaspar, Rice Lyons and Joe Preneta.
Contributing artists include Tim Fitzpatrick and Mimi McBride of Hamilton and Avani Palkhiwala.
In addition to Carmien, the editorial team includes fiction editor Roberta Clipper, an English professor at Rider University, poetry editors Luray Gross, author of three collections of poetry, and Ellen Jacko, an English teacher at Allentown High School; and art editor Edyta Kuciapa, graphic designer and photographer.
The deadline for submissions for the 2014 edition is May 15, 2014.
